7 days headwind

2022

The work is a reappraisal of an 800km bicycle trip from the summer of 2022. It was my first trip of this kind and it challenged me physically and mentally. The mental part is what this work is about. By means of a net on which strips of plastic film are attached, the monotony of the cornfields that accompanied me almost the whole way is to be represented. Fragmentary video sequences created on the journey are projected onto this net in a loop. Fans create the headwind and make the stripes “dance”. This wind is the core element of the work. It was my adversary for 7 days. The duration of this confrontation with the elements of nature and my thoughts was grueling: At the first moment, the work is supposed to have a certain beauty, but it dissolves the longer you stay in it. This beauty is more and more destroyed by the monotony of the videos and the constant wind.
